Take a sale at the counter

Ring up products and services, attach the sale to a client, apply a discount and take payment.

Updated

The POS screen is the till: you add what the customer is buying, take the money, and the sale becomes an order like any other.

A counter sale is not a separate kind of record. It is an order with POS as its source, which is why it shows up on the Orders screen and in the day's totals alongside anything bought online. That matters at closing time: there is one place to reconcile, not two.

  1. Open POS.
  2. Search products by name, or switch to services if you are selling an appointment or a treatment at the counter.
  3. Add each item to Current order. The quantity can be changed on the line before you take payment.
  4. Select Select client to attach the sale to an existing client, or leave it on Walk-in. Attaching it is what makes the purchase appear in that client's history.
  5. Select Discount to reduce the order. A discount applies to the order, so check the Subtotal, Tax and Total before continuing.
  6. Select Pay now and choose the method: Card, Cash, Pay in Store, Payment Link or External Terminal.
  7. Confirm. The order is recorded and the cart clears.
Card
Taken on a connected card terminal
Cash
Taken at the drawer — this is what the cash reconciliation counts
Pay in Store
Recorded as owed, to be collected later
Payment Link
A link is generated for the customer to pay on their own device
External Terminal
Taken on a terminal that is not connected to Vendzi

Add item exists for the things that are not in the catalogue — a repair, a one-off, a tip. Use it sparingly. An item added by hand never appears in a product report, so a shop that runs on custom items cannot tell what it actually sells.

Out of stock and Low stock appear on the item as you add it. The sale still goes through, because a shop that cannot sell the last item on the shelf is worse than a stock figure that is one behind. Adjust the count afterwards rather than refusing the sale.
